Another very astonishing trek of Himalaya in Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. It is around 480 KM from the delhi and takes around 10 hours to reach the Mcleodgang. The trek has easy to below medium level of difficulty and popular among the foreign tourists.
The trek start from the Gallu Temple of McLeod Gang. You can reach the Gallu temple on foot, but it is better to go there by the car. You could easily hire a car from the city centre with fixed price of 500 per car. You could also drive their using your own car and park outside the Gallu Temple with free of charge. But it is better to park the car in the city and hire the car to reach the Gallu temple, because road are in bad condition and have some narrow openings.
Difficulty – 3/10
Starting Point – Gallu Temple
One way trek distance from Gallu temple – 5 to 6 KM
Duration – Around 5 hours
Accommodation – Tent or Guest House (1000 – 2000 INR per tent/room)
Before starting the journey it is advisable to bring rain coat, because you may encounter rain during the trek. Also take water bottle along with you, or you could also purchase in between, they are few stalls in the way of trek. You could refill your water bottles at waterfalls. There are shops after reaching the peak but their rates are higher compared to the item in the market or at the base.
I am encouraging you to stay a night at the peak to enjoy the beautiful weather or you could also return to the McLeod Ganj on the same day. One can also go for the snow line, further up from the Triund, by following the arrow marks on the stones. I personally couldn’t go till the snow line but could search about this on the google.
